Project 2010 Diesel to Gas
A quick little history of my new to me 2010 diesel dozer. Through craigslist I traded a decent Ford 8N for the 2010 that didn't run "quite right". Drained five gallons of sludge oil and another gallon or so of water from the engine. Curiosity got the best of me and I decided to add new oil and try to start it. Surprisingly it started and seemed to run O.K. Then a quick bang and a new hole was punched in the side of number four cylinder. Entire sleeve was gone with part of the piston and a bent connecting rod showing after I removed the head. What followed next was a quick lesson in the inventory of good 2010 diesel blocks followed by sticker shock over the price of the usable blocks. Decided to put the project on hold until I could rebuild the slush fund.
Then as dumb luck goes I stumbled onto a gas 2010 Industrial tractor with loader and backhoe for $500. Runs decent but the rest has seen better days. So the decision has been made to swap out diesel motor with gas until I can find a suitable diesel motor. Swap looks straight forward but I am sure there will be a few hiccups. More to follow.

If you get some time, it would be helpful to list the items you had to switch out, especially those things that are not intuitive. Previous posters indicated that it would be a massive and difficult undertaking.
(1) JD Straight 450 crawler dozer with manual outside blade; (2) JD 2010 diesel crawler loaders; (1) JD 2010 diesel dozer with hydraulic 6-way blade; (2) Model 50 backhoe attachments, misc. other construction equipment
I'll try to remember everything. A lot of research and thinking went into this project, the next one should go pretty fast.
Some things I switched over from the diesel, like the alternator conversion I had done. I used the diesel flywheel, because the gas came with a bronze bushing of a different size than the roller bearing in the diesel one. I used the diesel water pump setup, so the pulleys would match up and I could use the old fuel tank mounting. I did a little adapting to the exhaust manifold, to fit under the fuel tank and exit the hood opposite of where the diesel had been. I had to flip the water manifold end for end to get clearance for the diesel water pump asy, then make the necessary changes for hose routing . I had to fabricate the carburetor, governor and throttle linkages. I was a little creative and used the stock air cleaner. And of course had to change the wiring a little bit.
OH, and I changed out the governor (at15368t) that was on the gas for a (at16750) from a 2010 tractor. The linkage connections on the new unit were much more suited for my application.

2010 diesel to gas
I have been researching to do a 1010 diesel to gas converstion as well but my plan was to use a 2010 gas motor for the 1010. Lavoy said possible hp issues, but more my concern is the flywheel matching the reverser in my loader crawler, the 2010 gas engine coming from a green rubber tire machine.
All in all could you say you made your crawler into a turn key and go machine verses the troublesome issues with the diesel motors?

After looking at the parts books for both I be-live your 1010 flywheel will bolt right up to the 2010 gas
If yours is after ser# 21901 then your water pump should work on the 2010 gas

2010 with 622 dozer with mod. 35 ripper and a 2010 with 622 dozer bought in 1969 and a 2010 loader with drott and mod. 36 ripper

You mentioned in your post how your machine is much better for the conversion just wanted to hear additional comments in this reguard.
My machine has been sitting for some time since the original restoration not including the motor and would like to make a decision either diesel motor rebuild or gas replacement.
My thoughts lean toward gas replacement being cheeper and more reliable in the long run not concerned about fuel consumtion, just operateing with minimal maintenance. The diesels seem plagued with starting issues and I know this firsthand.
