Fuel Filter for a 440 ICD

Post by steamfitter99 » Mon Jan 30, 2006 9:13 pm

Hello, does anyone have a good part number for a fuel filter for a 440 diesel? The number I have is obsolete according to JD. I have also run the number through Detroit Diesel and it will not fit my housing. The filter housing says Commercial Filters Boston Mass. Thanks, Tom.

Not sure of the number, but I know someone that got one from NAPA.

The one I put in my 440ICD last week was a Wix and I apparently didn't write the number down in my parts book but they found it looking for a Fram F59071. It is supposed to be a Fleetguard FF5005 and a NAPA 3080. The filter in mine when I got it last fall was too small and the best I could tell wasn't sealing at either end. I will track down the Wix number if you need it. The auto parts house had a crossreference for the GM number in the parts book. I was surprised that a new gasket didn't come with the filter but the old one sealed ok.

The Wix number is 33080 maybe they have some sort of deal with NAPA.

Bryce, believe it or not that filter is close, but not quite tall enough. I then went through Hastings filters and their help line found the filter with the dimensions of the old filter. The filter is a Baldwin # F922-c. Their website lists this filter to fit the manufacturer of the filter housing. The filter housing is stamped Commercial Filter, the website lists this as the filter for this housing. Thanks for the help, it got me started in the right direction. Thanks, Tom.
