3 point rockshaft

Post by Pat » Sat Oct 30, 2010 5:46 pm

Lavoy, You were right. Water worked! The whole story is I had a rockshaft that was rust welded internally. Had sat for a long time on a 440IC. Cylinder would not budge it even with the help of a 20 ton jack. Let it soak in diesel fuel for days, and still no movement. Did not really want to drive the shaft out, so contacted Lavoy. He says fill it with water, so I did. A day later the cylinder moved it and it is now free (and full of 90wt.) You the man Lavoy!!!!

I am surprised that some of these "entrepreneurs" are not selling water in a spray can imported from China (cheaper water? ) and calling it "Penetrating Fluid".

Hi,

Yep. Water *is* the universal solvent!

You ought to see how well it works to make a rust-sticky crawler track chain free up! ;)

Helps to find or make a shallow ditch with water in it to run the track in, but one can do it with a hose.

Later!

Best thing I have ever found on rusty tracks is snow. You get a double benifit, you have to play in the snow, and the tracks get freed up.
