You have the wrong battery door, someone has put a tractor door on it. The MC's used a split hinge so the door could be removed. Either you need to unbolt the door to get the battery in, or you need to modify your door. Weld the hinge at a 90 degree angle, and put two short studs in place of the hinge bolts so you can remove the door.

I never realized the door on my 52 mc was wrong!
I looked at the parts manual I have and I think I see in the exploded view 2 doors:
part# AM 358 T tool box and battery shield ass (for AM749T)
part# AM 957 Cover, battery and tool box (for AM750T)
Is AM957 the one for the MC or is the cover another door that goes over the battery door?

Does anyone have any pictures of this area for a crawler?

Thanks

AM957T is the door for the crawler, the tractor is a different part number, but don't know what it is.

Try the John deere parts catalogue site to download an MC tractor/crawler manual -

http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/pdfs/PC0848.PDF

Click on the plus sign by "B" to find "battery box" to answer your particular question.

Hope this helps. Paul

doors?

In the 42 years I've been around our MC, all I've ever seen were the hinges :D . Now I have an incomplete 52.

Even the MC door looks like a hinge, you have to look fairly close to see that it isn't.

Okay, just had a thought, have you tried bopping the top of the door to see if it does come off? You may have the right door, just didn't know it comes off.
