The seal you are going to get from NAPA or anybody else including Deere will not be the original style, and you will have to be a lot more careful when installing the quills so as not to roll the seal.
I have the correct seals on hand.

mapaduke,
The cross-reference resource you referenced is available on this site: it is Lavoy. He spends a great deal of time finding currently available components to meet John Deere part number specifications that are either discontinued or a little too "deere". In some cases he actually fabricates the parts. He can supply them to you at reasonable prices and with the assurance that they will fit your application. What are you going to hear from the guys at NAPA when you take back the seal you tried to install and tell them it didn't fit right?

Just a thought. Gil

I apologize if I offended anyone for wanting to look for parts elsewhere.I didn't see oil seals listed in the parts section of this sight.
I do appreciate all of Lavoys efforts and he is a true asset to our hobby.
Thanks Ron

Hee-hee. I don't think you offended a soul Ron. Not to worry, we all have iron poor blood... I meant to give Lavoy a poke rather than a plug. And now our moderator can delete these last few silly messages as in no way having any redeeming social value - except to show that Ron is a nice guy.
