2 cylinders gas engine

Post by 440 iron popper » Thu May 12, 2011 6:14 pm

Is there a known weak point in these engines that should be checked while it is off the crawler? I had a good compression, normal oil pressure before dismantling the whole machine. I'll remove the head to do a check and the oil pan is no big deal too if needed. Thanks!

If the head is off, I would magnaflux it at the very least.

I would lap in the valves with grinding compound while they are easy to get at. Even if the engine had good compression, you can not beat shining up the valve seats a little.
