420c... broke throttle shaft

Post by redkneckracer » Thu Jun 09, 2011 5:36 pm

well my throttle shaft broke across the butterfly , so i took a shaft out of an old 40 carb the only difference is the little lever on the end was on th wrong side. so i changed the lever around set my load and adjusted my idle but now i can keep her from backfiring and over reving? ever since i ran the 2cyl hot shes always been bogging and sputtering and burnin a mess of fuel. starting to think about a diesel conversion. i got a nice little yanmar 2 cyl and a hatz 2 cyl air cooled that i think are narrow enough and only making i think a little over 20hp. fire away thanks

I must be missing something, because the lever on the throttle shaft is identical between 40 and 420 as far as I know. The difference is the length of the shaft, and the relief for the throttle plate is wider due to the 420 having a larger bore and bigger throttle plate.

Depends on which one, but assuming you mean 420, 30HP, about 80FT-lbs.
