Foot throttle

Dave cook tractor parts has foot throttle kits for the 40,420 and 430.Has anyone used an Early crawler with one.I think that they were an option from Deere back in the day.I would like to try one and see how it works.

I mounted one, but took it off before ever using it. It is very restrictive as far as space on a crawler due to lack of foot room.

I mounted one and I do like it, although Lavoy is right about it being restrictive on the already limited foot space. But it also gives you a few hundred extra rpms which comes in handy under heavy loads

The increased engine speed is designed for transport only, and was never intended to be used under load.

Lavoy got me thinking? Say you have a crawler with a blade and you start to push a pile of dirt the engine will start to bog down then the governor should kick in and give you the extra RPMs needed , thus not needing a foot throttle.If I'm right I'm thinking now that the governor isn't working on my 440?

By the time the engine has dropped a hundred RPM or so, the throttle should be already pegged, so yes, foot throttle would be irrelevant.
