Front motor mount

Post by apowalski » Fri Jun 10, 2011 1:37 am

My engine is mostly together now and was looking at the work ahead. This project was bought already torn down so I am using the manuals to go together. My serial number is 458942 so I have the later style front engine mount. How does it attach to the frame. I bought the bolts and the round spacers from Deere already had the flat spacers in old style parts bags. The spacers don't even fit over the bolts and they don't even take up all the room in the holes on the sides of the mount. Am I missing something here? AdamP

It is a 440 gas crawler. I think they need to be about 15/16 outside diameter .625 thick and 7/16 hole. the part you get today from Deere is 3/8 inside 1/2 outside .625 thick. I am going to see them tomorrow and see if they can identify bushings by description. Thanks AdamP

I am going to try again. I have installed the engine in the 440 gas crawler. I put on the front hard nose and am now trying to figure out what size spacer goes in to the holes of the front engine support. I found that the diesel crawler uses the same fasteners for its front support. If any one has there crawler torn down up front for any reason could they measure the round spacer that fits inside the front engine support that bolts to the frame rails. I am looking for outside circumference and how thick it is. I know that the inside is going to be 7/16 because that is the size of the carriage bolts that go through the frame rails. Thanks for any help. AdamP.

engine mount spacers 440

hi adam, i used some big tough 1.5" hard flat washers,, my bolts have 1.25 heads and i think they are 5/8 dia.thread.
i have 3 washers on each bolt on the right side ONLY,,(between the mount and frame), the left side needed none, the washers are 1/8" thick.
i determined all this as i was putting it together and had the frame sort of loosened up to get it all aligned,,,, measuring alot and making sure i didn't get it bound, crooked,or bowed,
its all straight and tight now , ready for any stress.
be careful ,you don't want to draw it up crooked and snap off a mount ear.
440icd/602/8a,,440icd/831/ripper,,440icd/831/3pt.,misc. 440 parts, i have 5 of these now, but i can stop anytime
