hey guys, i got a jd crawler with a loader on it. i cant seem to find out what year or model it is. the ser num says JD 40 ser # gs6006 and that tag is rivited on the right side of the A arm i got pics i can e-mail if i can find some one to help. they tell me its a 1948 jd but i dont know.
help please

You may want to look at the FAQ Forum, it has a lot of serial number info. It doesn't show 40s as being that old. Also doesn't show letters in serial numbers.

I Think Your Looking @ The Loader Serial #........ 40 C 's Serial # Plates Were On The Bellhousing (Behind The Carb, And Below The Starter).... 40c Didnt Start Till 1953-1955 I Think......

Are you sure it is a 40 and not a 90? It sounds like a loader serial number. As in a Model 90 loader on a 420 or late 40 crawler.

ok i'll check this weekend when i go to the camp . i didn't know there was another plate . thanks guys i'll let ya know!!
