440 Bottom Rollers

Post by jac » Sun Mar 12, 2006 2:35 pm

Looking for some bottom rollers for a 440. Any aftermarket supply for them, or is this a Deere part? Kind of pricey from Deere.

The new ones from Deere will not fit I don't believe, they seem too big.
There are aftermarket rollers out there, trouble is finding someone that has them. I can get them, but they are too expensive to bother with for me, well over $150. Plus, they look dorky I think.
Can your old ones be rebuilt?

Some of the old rollers are missing the side flanges so not sure if they can be salvaged. Picked up two on eBay so will see how they look when they arrive. I will remove them all and see how they look. Some look pretty good and some are shot.

John,
I think I have a few shells with no axles or end caps, how many do you need?
Also, I should have new axles available in the not too distant future if you axles are bad.

Likely need three shells. I will pull them all off this weekend and let you know. Send me a PM with prices. Thanks.

I supposed having the rollers built up with submerged arc and then turned back to OEM dimensions would be prohibitivly expensive?

Some may be repairable but some are missing the side flanges so I think those are shot! I did get from Lincoln their process for roller repair. Lincoln suggested preheating and build up, followed by hardface with MM rod. May give it a try but likely will need to shells anyway.

There is or used to a wire called a "work hardens" wire. It is fairly soft as it is put on, then as you run the crawler, the rails pound the beads flat and the weld hardens as this happens.

JD 440I Track Roller Shells

Post by jd440 » Tue Mar 14, 2006 9:44 pm

Hello Lavoy,

I could use 2 roller shells for a JD 440I, if you have any left. The side flanges are broken off on two of mine. Its a battle just to keep the track on.

Please send me a P.M., if you have any spare shells. Please include pricing.

Thanks,

Derek (JD440)

Derek,
Should have new axles in a few weeks, I have one shell here, that is all, might have some more at the farm. I won't be out there for a while, but will check when I am.
I will post as soon as the axles are done.

There are some (3) roller shafts for sale on eBag right now. The auction number for one of them is 7600542743. He may also have the shells, looks like he is parting out a 440.

Hi Bryce,

Unfortunately, the person on eBay with the roller shafts only ships in the U.S.. He doesn't ship to Canadians like myself.
