2010 DIESEL changing hydraulic oil.

The hydraulic oil in my 2010 is milky. I want to change oil and filter. If I take the filter cover off (rh side underneath machine) will the entire system drain from that port? Also where do you pour the new hyd fluid in? I have a manual and it tells me capacities and service intervals but seems to be a bit vauge on these questions..I'm also wondering if my JD dealer has or can get a new filter element? Thanks in advance for answers, you guys are great at helping out us newbies! Al Z

yes JD has the filter and orings for the TRANS filter (the round cover with a bolt in the middle... right side of trans)..... the three bolt cover (just forward of the round) cover on a loader does NOT have any filter .... now what is milky? the trans? or the hyd? (tank next to the seat) the two are NOT connected on a 2010 loader and the filter in the tank next to the seat is also at JD

The hydraulic oil in the tank next to the seat is milky. Thanks for the info, I'll leave the tranny alone. I don't see a drain plug so I am assuming I will have to drain the hydraulic tank by taking a hose loose? It has an 820 loader, so this tank next to the seat is strictly loader op oil? The hydraulic pump is on the back and must run off the PTO shaft. AZ

My hydraulic tank has a drain at the back just over the track, really hard place to get a funnel in. i need to change mine for the same reason and I know it's going to get messy.

yes tank next to seat and filter is under the handle on the top unbolt it... and the plug is at the rear and as far to the left side as it could be on the bottom... on mine i could not get the plug out(pulled the hose off the pump big mess) had to take the tank off anyway doing the steer clutch so i cleaned the tank and changed the filter had to destory the plug to get it out it had never been out that i could tell and you dont have to use trans/hyd oil you can use reg hyd. oil its a little cheaper and the fill is the cap with the dip stick

JT- I found the drain plug to dump the hydraulic oil from the loader. Man I hope I can get that plug out. There are some hydraulic hoses that run to the lift cylinder that are covering the plug. I will have to diconnect those hoses in order to try and get the plug out. Does the plug take an allen wrench to turn it out? How did you wreck yours? I wonder if mine has ever been out. I will find out tomorrow. AZ

you should be able to move the lines i think ...yes allen on mine it was so tight it ripped the center out so the wrench would just spin its not that hard to take off if you have to

I had a similar issue with the hydraulic tank on my 2010 loader- I ended up undoing the short piece of flexbile hydraulic hose between the tank and hard pipe on the rear to drain.

I think next time, if I have water in the oil, I am going to try the tip that Digitup provided. he suggested using one of those water absorbers for fuel tank to remove the water from the hydraulic oil. You would just remove the handle filter assembly and drop the absorber in overnight.

I removed the rubber piece on the back going down to the pump. I had the machine sitting on a slight hill nose upwards. The old drained out 99%, I got the rest out with some shop towels. Put the new oil in with new filters, very little mess, I had to pressure wash the weights on the back off, they had a little oil on them after draining. AZ

i use a 10 dollar suchion hose that you can buy at most auto parts stores shake it back and fourth and i will drain tank with no mess

i did not do the rams and i think it took about 7 gals.with rams 10 plus?

Buy two 5-gallon buckets of the JD 303 equivalent or UTHF and you should be good to go. You don't need to use JD's Hytrans for the loader system.
