440icd 2-71 detroit ????

I was wondering if I could fit a 2-71 in my 440icd.???
what kind of modification would I have to do???
same size block??????
what do you think?
I know have a line one, and was thinking I could rebuild it while useing my rig untill ready to do the engine swap.

Will not fit, either in size, or in mounting. The rear engine case on the Detoit in there now is a special Deere only piece developed to mount the 2-53 to a John Deere bell housing. Even if you could shoehorn it in, the crawler would be so butchered as to be valuless for much other than parts, and the first time you bumped against an immovable object and the governor opened on a 2-71, there would be some real bad noises that would sound like a large quantity of cash burning.
If you can find a 2-71, you can find a 2-53. If you can't, bite the bullet and rebuild the one you have.
