well after looking around i found a 2010 crawler loader that runs and moves, the seller says there is no left steering clutch, i'm hoping he means the clutch material is gone, here is the wording in his ad at the bottom of this page...i'm wanting it to do some clearing ( couple of acres of saplings nothing big), use on a 50 acre farm and possibly dig a 50 x 100 x 8 pond am i crazy for thinking this machine would do this ?? i have read about replacing the steering clutches on the forum i know i could do it.
What parts are no longer made for these that need replacing often, i don't want to be stuck with something that i cant get parts for...any help is greatly appreciated, he is asking $2500 a running moving crawler has to be worth that doesn't it ??
"1964 running loader, 63 hp diesel, loader works( deasent right steering clutch assy. ( there is no left steering clutch assy. has a solid final drive turn left by pulling right clutch in reverse) this loader is strong for a 9400 pound machine its not perfect or in good condition but you can use it the same day you buy it price is firm . i will list it for a week as a complet running unit after that i will part it out if engine sells first "
found a 2010
i looked at the pic of the 2010 and it looks like its a post 42000 ser.# (late model) diesel, tracks appear to be fair to good.... i bought one with the same problem it was $2800 it has 4in and ripper (no shanks) i think it would do you good for the work you talk of.... i have 3 ..2010s.. two running at this time it would be nice to know if it has a ( HLR/power shift trans) the clutch is not to hard to do and with new parts it about $800/1000 and two days work? and it weights about 11000# I dont know where you would find a better machine for the money..... PS the left clutch is stuck so it does power just wont release to turn
2010 with 622 dozer with mod. 35 ripper and a 2010 with 622 dozer bought in 1969 and a 2010 loader with drott and mod. 36 ripper
The 2010 could definitely do the type of work you describe.
As for this machine, I didn't see any photos so can't comment on condition. Realize that the seller has several facts wrong, such as the weight and HP of the crawler so you will need to take his descriptions with a grain of salt.
Parts are somewhat difficult to come by compared to other JD crawler models. Steering clutch problems are somewhat common so it shouldn't be too big a deal and like Lavoy said parts are available for them. The major parts availability issues are with undercarriage and engine parts (engine parts are available from Deer but prciey).
Being that a 2010 loader weighs around 6 tons, you can't get hurt too bad at that price if you had to part out or scrap later. It has some desireable features such as the Drott 4n1 which you could sell and get much of the money back out of it if needed. parts machines often go for the price you describe.
I would recommend you review these threads to get some more information on 2010s and steering clutch problems, and you can search the archives for many more:
