Got it out. Well Lavoy, need a price for an engine clutch kit. Mine is shot.

Engine clutch kits are $200 with rebuilt pressure plate, $240 with new one. Includes new throwout bearing and clutch disc, whichever pressure plate you want.

Also, do you happen to have a used flywheel ring gear (P/N AM648T). Mine has about 8 teeth that are rusted away pretty bad. I could build them back up if required with silver solder (works pretty well) and is as strong as the orginal teeth. I have rebuilt gears before with this but it takes time to get them right, so may just replace it if you have a good used one.

Hi, Newbie here - I have been lurking here for some time!

I have owned 1959 440 ICD for over 15 years and it has been parked unused in my barn for about 8 years. When trying to start it yesterday I realized the engine clutch may need rebuilding.
The clutch was really hard to push down (felt like rust somewhere) and I don't think it returned back, or engaged properly when I released the pedal. Not sure about it?

I was not able to start the engine yet due to starter solenoid issue.

Everything worked fine when I last used the dozer back in 2007 or 08, however I was eventually expecting clutch trouble since I could never get any grease go into the engine clutch zerk fitting


While awaiting for new solenoid to arrive I would like to ask if you still have engine clutch kit available?

Sorry, just saw this. Yes I do, they are $250 with pressure plate, disc, throwout and pilot bearing. I do have a heavy duty button clutch available for $25 extra.

No problem, thank you for the reply.
I think it's best to wait few more days until the new starter solenoid arrives and I get to test and see if the clutch will return (which I doubt since the pedal does not feel right).

What does the "button clutch" mean - is that a special type of clutch plate material or design?

Hi,

Look at the pivots for the pedals. Both the clutch and brake pedals require periodic greasing where they pivot. You need to get under the machine and see. They can become sticky enough where they like to go down but not come back up.....

OK thanks, I will do so as soon as I get the starter solenoid to work.

The crawler is parked in the barn back corner such way that it's pretty hard to do much anything until I get the engine running and the blade up...

Or, just pull it forward with a tractor.

Oh, well I will know better when parking it next time
