type in 440 in the search field and look through the results for the crawler.

This thread also discusses how to get a copy of the service manual from one of our members, if you need it:

I may not have been able to count accurately from the photograph, but it appears that you only have 35 links in your track chain, instead of the standard 36. Apparently that is because of the smaller sprocket and idler wheel. As Chuck said, they certainly are interesting. You can see how the track raises up at the center idler wheel. If you look at other JD440 pictures, you will see the tracks almost straight across when tight. This should not be a problem as long as you track bushings seat properly in the drive sprocket. Gil

I get 36 links, so that is right. I would bet pretty good money that those are 350 sprockets with the centers cut out, and the sprocket welded to the cut out centers of the old 440 sprockets.

Lavoy is probably correct about the sprockets, which would indicate that it is the center idler roller that is elevated out of position in the photograph. They must have put a spacer in under it. If you could, it would be interesting if you could take a picture of it. A lot of guys have had problems running out of track adjuster throw or front idler rail to tighten their worn tracks. This would be an alternative for tightening up the track if your sprockets are already worn to accept the stretched chain. Just have to be careful about clearance on the fender. Gil

A spacer under the upper idler support was actually an update from Deere to use with the older upper idler supports after the new taller support came out.
That being said, this one looks kind of tall.
As far as track adjustment, if you are so far out that the adjuster will no longer take out the slack, your rails will be worn substantially past allowable wear limits.
