I remember the old Terex crawler we had with an 8V71-N, and the oil pressure gauge showed at idle you could have 5PSI or less. I put a mechanical gauge on this 440, and it starts out at 50PSI, and drops to 25 or better when warm, but does not change really at all with engine RPM. This is with 5W-40 oil, just drained it tonight, and am going to refill with Delo 100 40wt, and am curios to see what the difference if any is.

Mine is about 45 cold and drops to 35 warm but doesnt change with different
RPMs either.. I am still smiling it started yesterday at about 37 degrees without either.The one i had 30 years ago needed a sniff anytime you started it that it wasnt hot.

i have never been in a 2-53 but my guess is that they used the same oil pump in all of the 53 series and in the 2-53 it has much less to pump oil to so at low RPM you would have much better pressure ....just a thought...i have a 6v53 and at idle it drops to about 10 psi
