What type of oil do I use in reverser

Post by Jon » Mon May 29, 2006 1:52 pm

I have a late model 1010 with reverser and the book says to use type A automatic transmission fluid or Deere type 303. I have never heard of type A fluid. Is that equivalent to or can you use another type of automatic transmission fluid?

The John Deere Hydraulic fluid type 303 has been updated by the new John Deere J20C specification. You can use the John Deere HY-GUARD Trans-Hydraulic Oil or one of the farm store John Deere equivalent oils that list the John Deere J20C oil specs.
I just got a 1010 Crawler and the reverser cooler hose was torn off the next day by a small tree. We put the J20C spec oil in and it has been running fine. We have about 15 hours on it since the event. It takes three gallons when all is dumped.
I am new to this this hobby. My neighbors gave me the name.
