6 way
Did JD offer an all hydraulic 6 way blade on the 420C model? Thanks, gregjo1948
JD 350B diesel 6way blade, Case 580B Loader/backhoe, Farmall 504 high crop w/ flail boom mower, International 404 , International 284 diesel w/belly mower, 1972 Ford F600 dump truck, Galion 3-5 roller, Allis Chalmers D17, 1620 Ford
Re: 6 way
I'm not 100% sure but I don't think I seen any all hydraulic 6 way blades until the 350's came out. I would say custom made is the only option for a 420!gregjo1948 wrote:Did JD offer an all hydraulic 6 way blade on the 420C model? Thanks, gregjo1948
1956 JD420, gearmatic 8a winch, custom 6 way blade and FOPS.
No, first factory Deere 6 way was on the 440. If fact I have heard that it was the first factory 6 way of any of the manufacturers.

Willyr also fabricated a 6way blade as I remember and posted pictures of it.
OT: I noticed that my house keeping at Photobucket has caused a link problem. I'll try to fix it soon. Paul

Yes I did create a 6 way. I could do it again if some one wanted to pay for it.

some of the construction pics can be found here.

By the way. I went through almost 50 pounds of 3/16" 6010 welding rod for the conversion.

Lavoy, Did the 440 come with a full hydraulic 6 way or did it have the manual pins? Just curious, I never seen one. Willy I know what your talking about, I went thru a good 40 pounds of .035 wire building mine!Lavoy wrote:No, first factory Deere 6 way was on the 440. Re: 6 way
FYI, my 2010 dozer has a factory 6-way hydraulic blade (model just after the 440 but before the straight 350/450).notmeu wrote:I'm not 100% sure but I don't think I seen any all hydraulic 6 way blades until the 350's came out. Well gregjo1948, to answer your question it sounds like a no to me! That is, not a factory option! Unless you get that welder out!!!!gregjo1948 wrote:Did JD offer an all hydraulic 6 way blade on the 420C model? Thanks, gregjo1948

Next ? Would an all hydraulic 6 way from an early 440 fit to a 420 without fabrication? Thanks, gregjo1948

Re: 6 way
I can't speak for how a 440 6-way would mount up to a 420 but I would think there would be a little fabrication. For example when I made the 6 way on my 420 I had to get every ounce of fluid out of my existing hydraulic tank that I could so I did not run short, So I installed a 10" extension pipe onto my filler tube so I could get a little more fluid into the tank. It worked out great, except for when I would climb a steep hillside or do more of a pushing the limits of gravity move I would get some fluid coming out of the filler tube. But I would think a 440 tank would be bigger and it was probably in a different location than the 420????gregjo1948 wrote:Next ? Mounts are completely different, major fab work to say the least. No place to mount the rub blocks is another problem.

If you haul it to Maine I would be more than happy to make the conversion for you. I still have some of the 3" od 1" id structural tubing left over.
I need something to do, so if you didnt mind some one else working on it for 6 months, it wouldnt be a prob for me. I can deliver yet I get 50 cents a mile.

6 way
Lavoy-- I think the Internaional T340/ TD340 might have had a fully hydraulic 6 way. They came out about '58 '59 and would have been about the same time as JD 440. Whom do suppose stole the idea? Maybe the 310 Case. gregjo1948
