Post by trant156 » Sun Apr 06, 2014 4:01 pm

I have a few questions hoping I can get answers to.first previous owner was killing tractor by piping clutch the cable from kill knob is not connected can any one tell where it hooks to or a diagram,is there a preheat for glow plugs I thought you turned key to left for awhile but this doesn't help and shouldn't I hear a click.also where do I check hydrological level? Yes it is my first machine and I know nothing about it. Thanks for any help.

Best to get a parts manual and a service manual from Deere.
You will sure need them.

If you have a 440ICD with the Detroit Diesel 2-53 diesel engine there are NO glow plugs. Use just a little ether in the intake. The kill cable connects to the throttle linkage at the back of the engine near where it goes in the valve cover. It is supposed to force the linkage further to the idle or off position into the valve cover. Not sure what a hydrological level is?
