1010 stopped moving

Post by GraderDan » Tue May 03, 2005 11:07 am

Hey Lavoy, have a question for you about our 1010. We have a 63 or a 64 1010 without the reverser, was making a new road to the sugar house, was back dragging and the crawler just stopped moving, has no forward or reverse and is now leaking transmission fluid out the rear seal to the shaft for the winch. do you know what might be wrong with it and how much of a job it will be to fix it. Have a guy in the next town who works on older equipment, will also go and see him.
Thanks, Dan

Will the winch still work? If not, it is something in the clutch or prop shaft.

1010 stooped moving

Lavoy, am now certain that the clutch is going, when I let it set for an hour or 2, it worked fine for about a minute, then did the same thing again, as for the winch working, that depends on what kind of mood it is in as to whether it works or not.
Can you give me a ball park figure on what a new clutch cost's and can I get a pilot shaft from my local JD dealer to line it up.
Thanks, Dan

Lavoy, just talked to the local old tractoer mechanic around here and he thought too that it is either the clutch going to hell, or maybe the rear main seal is leaking oil onto the clutch. Either way the engine still has to come out, but I did forget to mention earlier that this 1010 has a rebuilt 2010 desiel engine my father -in law had put in. Will it need a 1010 clutch or 2010 clutch or will will know till the engine comes out?
Thanks, Dan

Not sure on the clutch, probably no way to guess until you get it split.
