1967 1010 need parts

Post by jblair34 » Fri Sep 19, 2014 1:06 am

I got a 1967 john deere 1010 dozer with a 4 way blade and got a little bit of work to do on it. First thing was i needed a new hydro pump so i put another vickers pump on it the other one is shot it wasn't the oringal but what every works right. Second thing is to get new clutches, throw out bearings pressure plates, springs whole nine yards for both final drive sides and brake band for one side ( if anyone knows where to get this stuff please let me know Thanks). Last thing is, in the gear box that has the input shaft that has 1st 2nd speed cluster on it i need both end cone bearings the bearings, spacer, snap ring, and the thrust washer that the gear cluster rides on on the input shaft. Dozer only has 1 gear which is forth gear to move forward and back as of now so cant really do any work with it plus its tore all apart in my garage now. needing parts and buying asap when i can find them. does anyone know where to find the serial number located on this dozer thanks. will post pic of machine when i can figure out how to. Thanks for all your help

If the tag is there it is on the right side on the engine block.

Hi,

Yes, the last year of 1010 production was 65. It was replaced by the 1020 on the wheel tractor side, which was a completely different machine using a 3 cylinder engine.

There was no 1020 crawler, that spot being taken over by the JD 350, with the 3 cylinder engine like in the 1520 wheel tractor.

if you get some pics and info of what you have we can narrow it down as to the approx. year...... is it gas or diesel? does it have a reverser? if yes where is the lever? spin on oil filter?

1967 dozer

Post by jblair34 » Wed Sep 24, 2014 3:02 pm

Yes it has a reverser located on dash board left side four speed, four cylinder gas engine. yes screw on oil filter located if you are sitting on the dozer right side in front of the distributor. I found a number in the casting on the left side of dozer engine close to the front (15879T) don't know if this is a part number for crank case or what, cant find a nomenclature plate on right side of engine where it is suppose to be located. everything looks to be original so must have just fail off at some point in time. will post pic to my facebook if you want to take a look. Joshua Blair and i have a pic on my cover photo of me my son and daughter. Thanks

if it has a spin on oil filter and has a paper air filter then it is post 42000 built in or after late 1963.... the trans range shifter (not the reverser) is on the floor not in the dash? only the very early ones where in the dash like 1961
