440 diesel 831 loader

Post by mapaduke@yahoo.com » Mon Nov 17, 2014 1:27 pm

Are they supposed to be two electric oil pressure sending units on the left side of the 2 53 Detroit?
The wires are pretty hacked, cant trace them back to anything.
Also looking for a governor shield.
Thanks

One might be the pressure switch for the engine hour meter.

IF both are in the oil galley one should be dash gauge or light.... other one most likely hour meter switch as said above.....an hour meter switch would have 2 terminals ..light would have one and gauge most likely one also :) :)

Yes one if the pressure switch for the hour meter and the other is for the electric gauge.
Water temp is at the top of the engine in the head. It's right in front of the bracket for the throttle rod (on a non-center throttle model).

Do you have any extra electric oil pressure gauges? Mine was trashed and I can't find a factory original anywhere. I think Lavoy is working on some reproduction ones.

Whiteclipse that's the only one i have, if i decide not to use it i will let you know. Im not sure it even works
Im surprised you cant find one, i can take my switch to napa and and go threw there old books and try to get you there part number if you want.
I cant imagine that it was made just for Deere.

I've found tons of them for the gas jobs.
Problem is mine was so bad that I didn't have a good part number off of it. I think they were made by stewart warner but I could be completely wrong on that.
Let me know what you can find as far as part numbers.

The diesel gauge is different from the gas as far as I know. It's electric for one and I'm pretty positive the face is different, it doesn't say Deere on it right?
