when you get new filters make sure to get the gaskets and remove the old ones (best to use an ice pick) up in the base they will be like concrete most likely....the first time i did mine i did not think there was any in it they were as hard as the casting lol

Ok, will do.

Quick question, why do I need the 2 wire cable you posted for the alternator? I see that the description states the brown wire with the diode is what you need when replacing a generator like I have..when the machine keeps running after the key is shut off. But I would have thought I would only have needed the power and ground wires to the battery? When it spins it produces..but obviously I'm missing something here.

Thanks!

Hi,

Until the filter element deteriorates and splits and lets all the junk pass to the injector pump. Been there, done that, and do not -ever- want to go there again.....

Filters are dirt cheap (pun intended)!!

sense you have a diesel you may not need the diode (STAN WHERE ARE YOU) but you will need 2 wires UNLESS you get a one wire alternator ..... one of the wires is to the battery cable on starter other is the exciter signal from key switch and can go through? the dash light (AGAIN STAN WHERE ARE YOU LOL) he is the electronics wizard around here :D :D

Ok, I'll make a point of making sure to change the filters and get gaskets in the spring!

I just did a little reading. Not sure if I need the diode either because I don't have to worry about it keeping the engine running as I don't have a solenoid for the injection pump, ignition, etc. Anyways, I can deal with the wiring when I get the alternator!

if you use the dash "GEN" light then you dont use a diode even on a gas rig

Ok, sounds really good. I am excited to get the alternator! And fix the glowplugs. What do you think the best way of me fixing that broken connector would be Patrick? Get a new plug? Can I keep the wire? I can ask the local dealer here for a glowplug unless you think ebay would be a better bet?

Thanks :)

OK so taking a better look I have two broken off at the plugs :(

Here are a couple pics of the broken ones and one of a good one. I'll need to put new wire on them too as its looking pretty rough.

Added a fourth picture of the only lever by my feet. It was currently up in this position. Is this the HLR disconnect? Right noe its up all the way hitting the Steering levers guard. I can only swing it lower to the back of the crawler.
