JD40c engine block height

Post by rskalee » Mon Dec 29, 2014 5:39 am

Hello,

I´m rebuilding a 40C here in Brazil. The engine has been taken apart. Apparently, the previous owners replaced the cylinders with similar ones made in Brazil.

I plan on reboring the engine and putting new original cylinders. ´

I´m afraid that they might have changed to height of the engine block or head to make the cylinders fit.

Where can I find the engine block height? I do have the service manual, but it doesn´t say.

Regards,

Ricardo

If they used the original rods set your new pistons side by side with the ones you are removing and compare their height.

The thing is that I haven't bought the new pistons yet.

I would measure for you but I don't have a 40 block.
Would be very strange for the block to be cut too short.
Someone on this site may have one to measure.

Deere sold 40 crawlers in Brazil? Please post pictures.
Did deere make 2 cylinder crawlers in Argentina and ship it to Brazil? Or did they ship them to Brazil?

Back then there were no tractor factories in Brazil, so they were imported from US and Europe.
