Rocker arm studs
Rocker arm studs
I have a 165 G engine that I am trying to get back together after about 6 months.I have 4 rocker arm shaft studs, actually 3 studs and one bolt.2 long studs and one short one machined on the end.My book says to use the short machined one on the rear for oil clearance but the valve cover looks like it needs the 2 long ones on the ends. What am I doing wrong? My book is for a 1010 so possibly they are different than the 165 G?

The rear one is a tall one for the rocker cover and has the cut-out for the oil passage on a late model 1010 gasoline (115 CID). Make sure to line up the cut-out with the oil passage. There is a plug on the passenger-rear side of the head that plugs the hole drilled for the oil passage. Check out my incomplete thread on 1010 gas engine overhaul for some pictures. My engine has 2 studs (forward and aft) and 2 bolts. Is it possible the short stud was a bolt once upon a time?
