I don't know how it got bent, I picked up 2 440 icd 's to build one out of the 2 and put the parts that Im using under cover, now that im ready to put the tracks back on I find the bent sprocket. I have 2 others but after 3 months I will be damed if I can remember were I put them under all this snow. Lol

A cutting tip will never heat enough. You'll need to anchor the sprocket in a vice or possibly, mount it on the dozer. Depending which way it's bent, you may want to mount it inside out to get a better swing. You can maybe use a comealong or winch to pull the bend out. Good luck and let us know how you make out. gregjo1948

I guess my question would be "What is Snow?" You lost sprockets under some? But I did see something called "Rain" several years ago, I think I remember what it looked like.

I know this is going to sound stupid, but are you sure it is bent? I have never in my life seen a bent sprocket, and just can't imagine it is even possible given the mass and design we are talking about.

I am surprised to,Its defiantly bent , I took it a machine shop today and watched them put it in a lathe and its got a 3/4" wobble in a distance of six teeth and while it was spinning I noticed the teeth are thinner than the other's in that spot like they must have been rubbing on the chain rails. We then pot it in a 50 ton press and applied 12 ton to the bend it did straighten but wouldn't stay.
I did spend some time digging through the snow with the mimi excavator, I did find three pair of 420 sprockets, guess I will dig some more tomorrow.

WOW, I am just stunned, I would believe you could hang the crawler from a tree by a sprocket and not bend it. I was looking at a pair of sprockets as I walked out of the shop tonight and thinking what it would take to actually bend one!

When mounted on the dozer, is the sprocket bent in or out? gregjo1948

you have to bend it PAST straight some and then when released it will stop at straight ... may have to press it a few times to figure out just how far past you need to push it

The shop owner didn't want to put more pressure on it for safety reasons.
Its bent outwards when mounted on the axle.
When we spun it you could see the bend all the way back to the hub.
This sprocket came off a tractor I got for parts and the owner clearly had a lack for mechanical ability. He loaded it on my trailer with a 580 case. The only thing I can think of is that he lives on a hill side and probably got it stuck and used the back hoe to get it out ?
