Ok, I believe the early were driven off the water pump and and the later ones were driven off the fan pulley that's what I have.
I've seen a picture on here of one that's driven off the water pump, I can't remember who posted it, try looking through the show and tell section for aney 440 stuff ?

Those should help you out.
I won't swear to it that my generator bracket is correct, but it's close.
Why are you switching to an alternator. A working generator and voltage regulator and it'll charge great.

The crawler in the link isn't mine, but you can see that his fan has the double groove to run the generator from the fan. He chose to run it from the pump though.
That guy posted a picture somewhere from some old john deere literature with a picture of just the 2-53 engine and you could see the different belt configurations I think. I can't find that though.

I'm not able to measure mine, but I will tell you that I had to change my water pump and I believe the pulley that came with the new one wouldn't work so I had to press my old one off my old pump, press the new pulley off the new pump and put my old pulley on my new pump. I may be wrong about that but I think that's what I had to do. The dozer is at another place right now and I won't be there for a while to look.

That thing looks great. You need to start a thread in show and tell of all the progress.
I'm surprised how different your blower looks compared to mine.
Couple questions?
How did you get the hydraulic controls to be in the dash like on a gas 440?
In the last pic, what is the steel piece (2" tall x ~8" long) bolted near the grille? It's bolted under the ~12" x ~12" square that would say "440 Diesel"
