40C idle pulsing after warm up

Post by BradE » Wed Mar 25, 2015 7:52 am

My "new" 40C idles a lot like my last one. After it warms up, the idle pulses, probably from 1000 down to 500 and back up; engine runs fine otherwise. I just had the carburetor rebuilt before I started using it this winter, but was doing this before. Is this common? Where should I start?

No slam on your carb guy, but what exactly did he do as far as rebuilt. I have "rebuilt" a few rebuilt carbs over the years, and most people just soak them, put in gaskets and call it good. My guess is you have a plugged idle circuit, that is what I have found when I get the symptoms you describe.

I bought a kit with new gaskets, orifices. My carb guy did say that none of the jets he replaced had gaskets, so he used the gaskets that came with the kit.

I'll take a look at it for a plugged idle circuit when winter logging is done and the ground is too soft to use it much. (Those snow cleats make a mess of the lawn!)

Okay, I am a little stumped, none of the kits available today that I have found have jets with them, they need to be ordered individually.
