I think yes, this is exactly what is happening because it has the 152 engine. The "BC" must designate the transition between the two machines.

I don't think that the parts book support that possibility, but been a while since I researched it. Plus historically, when Deere did changeover between models, production stops while the changes are made to the plant for the new model. There is really no reason to have made a conglomeration crawler. If the parts were done, they would have just changed to the C series at that point. If that many B models with wet clutches were built, then wet clutches would appear in the B model parts book, and from what I remember researching it, they do not.

It is correct that the B parts catalog does not support the wet clutches. The C catalog does have both the 152 and the 164 engines. So, the old story of them building B's with wet clutches would appear incorrect, and the story that the C's had 164 engines is only partially true as both engines are in the C catalog. The 350C introduction shows they used an A and B for indicating a diesel loader machine, but doesn't related the letters to a given engine size. This makes a strong case for mis-stamping of the tag. Interesting to say the least.

I also think the tag is just mis-stamped. There was no definition for what C means as the second letter. B is a loader. So 350BC doesn't tell us what we have here. 350CB does.
That old thought about oddball B series with wet steering clutches comes from an overlap is the serial number data. I don't think any actually exist. Plus, so many mislabeled machines out there. They get some new paint and incorrect decals.
Maybe there were a series of mis stamped serial plates. That would lead to such a story forming. Many of these 350BC units with 152 engines and wet clutches and loaders which were supposed to read 350CB......
