JD350 thru JD350D Serial Numbers
Re: JD350 thru JD350D Serial Numbers
Yeah, unless it is in mud or snow, that thing is going to burn steering clutches like no tomorrow. Good looking crawler, just would get rid of those pads immediately unless your conditions merit them.

Sounds like it was well bought. A ROPS would really finish that rig off!
Good luck to you, Bruce
Re: JD350 thru JD350D Serial Numbers
Looks good, should do a lot of work for you.
I'm with Lavoy and B Town on the track pads. If you keep them use care or it will get expensive. A good sized highway/earthwork construction company I worked for years ago had a 983 (D8 size, 6 yd. bucket) Cat crawler loader, along with a lot of other Cat equipment. It was a good, dependable machine with a first class operator on it. The owner of the company decided it needed grousers like the D8s so it would be faster loading shot ledge and hard borrow; he thought the tracks spun too much. Against the advice of the master mechanic, guys the worked on the Cats, the operator, and the Cat dealer; he directed it be done. A major final drive repair and replacing steering clutches less then 500 hours later got the street pads back on it and problems went away.

Re: JD350 thru JD350D Serial Numbers
I hear ya on that, where is a good place to get them.
Re: JD350 thru JD350D Serial Numbers
Give Lavoy a phone call, he may have a source or a recommendation. Most of the undercarriage suppliers have warehouses and/or ship all around the country. Your local JD dealer (or Case, Cat, etc.) might have some options besides OEM JD pads and bolts.
And I should be correct; they are called OPEN CENTER 3 BAR SHOE in the JD catalog. I wasn't thinking of that when I posted, they are just often referred to as street pads around here. The street pads, in the catalog, are actually the rubber pads that bolt to the steel pads.

Re: JD350 thru JD350D Serial Numbers
Been a long time since I was on this site, hope all are doing well. About a week ago I purchased a 350c and it add to the 700,000 serial number mystery, this also is one of the late models. TO350CB713628. Looks to be an earlier one then previously posted to the site. Once I remember how to post pictures I will send a few.

My JD 350 T4F 3D serial number is 097890, so am I to assume that it was built prior to 1965? Your listing in FAQ's start with 10001.

Welcome to the Board.
Nope, it was built after 1965, not before. 350s didn't start until 1965. The first serial number in 1965 was 10001 (010001 if shown with 6 places as you wrote yours), so your 097890 was well after, not before, that. The serial numbers in 1969 started with 088281 and ended with 102136. Your serial number 097890 falls between those two numbers so your 350 has a 1969 serial number. Most john Deere serial numbers have 6 digits. A 0 when shown at the beginning, such as yours, is a place holder to make the serial number have 6 digits, and to confuse things a bit a 0 a the beginning is not always shown in printed lists. HTH

Re: JD350 thru JD350D Serial Numbers
Question..... The model of my loader says "350BC". What does that mean? Is it a "C" or is it a "B"?
Re: JD350 thru JD350D Serial Numbers
Welcome to the Boards.
You have a 350B. From the Introduction to the 350B on the JD Parts website: The first four places are the model. The fifth place is how it is equipped. However, they do not show a C option (not to say their list doesn't have a misprint or your plate might be stamped wrong). What is your entire serial number and how your crawler equipped (engine, transmission type of blade).
Here is a link to that Introduction document.

Re: JD350 thru JD350D Serial Numbers
Yes, I have full catalogs for the machine and as you said, there isn't a designation for the "C". The SN begins with 22 which puts it around a 1975. Since this is when the transition from B to C occured I wondered if the "BC" designation might indicate this transition. It is indeed a wet clutch machine and decals say 350C. It is also a loader which fits the description of the letter "B". Maybe they got the letters backwards? IDK? I was just curious if anyone else had encountered this?
Re: JD350 thru JD350D Serial Numbers
219,500 is the first C series, so if it starts with 22XXXX, yours is a C model which is why it has wet clutches. Is the serial number 350CB, which would make it a C model diesel, loader crawler.

Re: JD350 thru JD350D Serial Numbers
Then I would guess it is a mistamped tag, as the serial number seems to jive with a C model.

Re: JD350 thru JD350D Serial Numbers
Could it be a B with the 3 -152 engine having wet clutches that was built during the overlap with the C production starting? Stan touched on such occurring earlier in this thread.
