440 I Crawler/dozer

Post by Wheat47 » Wed Aug 27, 2008 11:01 pm

Newbie here.
I was supprised to learn that JD made 2 cyl. crawlers so long.
I know of one that the Ser,# is 441442.
Can anyone tell me about when it was made?
Dealer says early '70's.
It's for sale at $3500. Seems like a good price to me.
Needs some TLC, but not as bad as a few I've seen.
Also has snow tracks, with the hole in the pads.

Info I have says it is a 1958. S/Ns ran 440001 thru 448085. That would also make it a gas only and small transmission.
