Excuse my complete ignorance upon the subject, but why so expensive?
I have no intention of traveling to my grave in a well manicured body; instead I am going to slide into heaven with a big power turn, totally wore out with busted knuckles, jump off my dozer loudly yelling, Woo Hoo, another Shepard has just arrived!

Hi,

Because it is an important part of the Deere crawler history. Actually, the history of the entire Yellow Deere history. And, they never made many and there are precious few left.

That last condition drives the prices up on anything.....

Like certain old Lotus race cars I bought and sold for a thousand or two back in the 1980s fetching up near a million today.

It's amazing how much a DeLorean will go for nowadays, or an Edsel.

Keep in mind, there is a HUGE difference between asking and getting. I have known of some high dollar Lindemans, but also know of many, many more lesser priced ones. At the dollars you are talking, the owner better be able to recite chapter and verse exactly what was repaired or replaced.
