Hello all,
I am new to using online forums but I am looking for a part for a gearmatic 8a mounted on a 1010.
The part I am looking for is the cast piece on the clutch side that the little slave cylinder presses into. Please let me know if anyone has one available. I have a 40,420, and 1010 that I use for small logging projects and basically just enjoy keeping mechanically sound original condition.
Thank you, Jeff

Re: Gearmatic 8a
Are you missing one or is it broken? It can be welded but it has to cool slowly by covering the casting completely in a bucket of sand after it’s welded. I think I preheated my casting first with a rosebud torch. I have a few parts leftover I’ll take a look if I have one.

Notmeu,
Thank you for reply! The one I have is broken in about three pieces unfortunately. I would take one with a crack in it for sure, I am savvy with welding cast parts. Thanks again!

Re: Gearmatic 8a
Unfortunately I only have a leftover spider casting that I want to keep. There’s parts out there, I had to buy 2 winch’s to make 1 working winch.... check out the parts for a modern gearmatic winch. I found that there are parts that are used off of the 8a that are still used on modern winches. Checkout part #51627 it looks similar. You could always contact gearmatic and they can give you drawings to see if it is the same. I was able to get them to send me drawings at one time.

Re: Gearmatic 8a
Thank you for checking! I have rebuilt a few of these little drums but have never had this particular piece broken. I will check out that number.
Re: Gearmatic 8a
I had one at one time, will check.
