Hardened Valve Seats

Post by Jerrye » Thu Feb 18, 2021 2:40 pm

Lavoy,

I have read that hard valve seats should be installed when doing head work on a JD420.
I guess the head would have to be machined to accept the new seats. Do you have these hard seats available and if not where can they be purchased.

Thank you,
Jerry

Lavoy will be along with his answer, but here is my 2 cents on who supplies valve seats for a machine shop doing a head, I leave it to them to get and install the seats. To me that is the way to do it. Then they are responsible for the machine work, the seats, and the installation. If a machine shop doesn't know where to get the seats, I don't know that they are the ones to be doing a head. JMHO

I would echo what Jim said, the machine shop will have them, or can get them.
