Would this be to take up the slip between the roller axle and side plate? Or the roller wheel and the axle? Please excuse my ignorance, I’m new to these

No, these are for the axle in the final drive. There is no changing the side to side play in the bottom rollers. Sometimes they break and that can cause excessive slop, but normally it is from lack of grease and just accumulated wear.
