Help Model 2010c Ser# 56507

Post by Stretch » Sat Feb 24, 2007 5:46 pm

I found this site extremely useful. Please help me!
I have bought a 2010C and I am going through it front to back. I plan on using it on my farm. I want to make sure I have covered all the basis.
I need some input.
This is what I have found so far that I am going to fix:
1. Replace L steering brake
2. New rails and grousers
3. New idlers
4. Waterpump
I want this machine to be somewhat dependable. I was extremely happy finding this unit. I believe it has a lot of potential. I would like to get this dozer as close as I can back to original. ( I am an old JD buff, JD A,C,60,70)
This unit has a lot of potential, just needs a lot of TLC.

Brake is no problem, new rails and pads for that serial number are readily available for the most part. Idlers could be tough for new ones, used not too bad. Water pump should be no problem.
Have fun, that is what these old girls are all about.

JD 2010

Can I get most of the stuff through my local JD dealer?
Where might I get the used idlers?
I will post some pics as soon as I figure out how.
Thanks,

Stretch

At least some of it will be available from Deere, but will be expensive to say the least. I have or can get all of the parts you need, let me know when you are ready.

Ready

Post by Stretch » Sun Feb 25, 2007 1:27 pm

I am ready to get the parts I need now. Let me know cost and shipping.
My plan is to have the old girl done by June. I work on it about 4 to 5 hours at least each day. I am finding alot of things that are all right for some, but, not for me.
The more I get into this one the more I like it. My wife said I might be obsessed. I think I'm possessed.

Stretch,
Send me an e-mail with all of the parts you are looking for, and I will reply when I have a better idea on price and availability.

Hi Lavoy-

Did you mean mainly the front idler, or are top idlers also hard to come by?
(1) JD Straight 450 crawler dozer with manual outside blade; (2) JD 2010 diesel crawler loaders; (1) JD 2010 diesel dozer with hydraulic 6-way blade; (2) Model 50 backhoe attachments, misc. other construction equipment

I meant front idlers, sorry. Used upper idlers are usually shot, new upper idlers are sporadic at best. I finally got one in the other day, almost two months on back order. IF you can find a 350 upper idler support, you should be able to convert to that style upper idler, then availability is good.
