JD 450 track pads

Post by Charlie » Sat Nov 24, 2007 5:05 pm

Hi
Has anyone welded 3/4 or 1 "rebar onto the track pads to make them more aggressive. Anyone know what a set of used or new pads cost?

Also where could I obtain used counter weights, or should i just try and build something?

I have learned a ton of stuff since I located this site. Tahnks for all the replies, help and to those that put the site together.

Charlie.

Hi Charlie-

Since you are in MO, I thought I would let you know that Zimmerman's Tractor (crawler boneyard) in Versailles may have counterweights for your machine- I spoke to them last year about counterweights for my 2010 and I think they wanted around $25 a piece for them. Their contact info is at:

(1) JD Straight 450 crawler dozer with manual outside blade; (2) JD 2010 diesel crawler loaders; (1) JD 2010 diesel dozer with hydraulic 6-way blade; (2) Model 50 backhoe attachments, misc. other construction equipment

I have done this before on a Cat 977 track Loader, but used 1" square rod, work real good.

Forgot to add, there is a set of counter weights on ebay right now Item #320188186577

Also you guys looking for a winch controller check out this item on ebay. I see a winch in the pile I would assume the controller is there somewhere as well. Item #290184352597

Bill,
I see sprockets in the pile and they don't look to bad if you are still looking.

Lavoy,
I like the new spell check function when you are typing. I failed spelling in grade school.

Tiny,
The guy with the pile of 1010 parts on E-bay.I asked him about an exhaust manifold and some other part. When he E-Mailed me back,he said Yes,Ihave those parts. When would you like me to list them on E-Bay??I just told him I would pass if he didn't want to sell them outright. He was also asking $1800 for a used set of tracks???Anyway,I sell on E-Bay all the time and never pass on an opportunity to sell/help someone without useing there expensive site. I started using firefox instead of MS Explore so it must be a fancy feature with that browser, I have been liking it so far, also seems to run faster then explore.

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

I was kinda surprised that guy dissembled that crawler down to that level, either he needed hardware for another project! or has too much time on his hands. The guys number is on the listing maybe around x-mas when he is looking for cash he might sell items with out listing them.
