Another part bites the dust.
Got a call from a customer this week, it seems that the track stops for 420/430 are now obsolete, he got the last one in inventory. I would like to pursue making new ones, but I need a perfect used one, or an NOS one for a pattern. If someone has one they want to sell, let me know.

Please excuse my ignorance. What is a track stop?
That is the little block that is ahead of the sprocket on the MC thru 430. The theory is that if you overload the drivetrain, the cushions around the crossbars will flex enough to let the sprocket contact the track stop. When this happens, it will slip the clutch or kill the engine. If you look in a service manual for one of these crawler, you are supposed to shim the block out to a given space between it and the sprocket. I highly doubt this got done much, and I seems to me the track stop is most often used to grind the teeth off of the sprocket when people run the bearings out of the final drive and keep using the crawler.

Thanx for the info. My track blocks were worn through, I pitched them. I want to build me a set, but since I got my crawler done I can't seem to quit using it long enough to make it better.(unless something breaks)

I know I want one bad. Lookes at a IH TD-3 and a JD 1010. Can't justify, but still want one or two.

Hi,
I'll look thru my crates of leftover parts. I seem to recall having a couple new ones around. When our dealership closed, dad grabbed every 420 crawler part there was and put it into the barn. Worse comes to worst, I can always pull one off of my 420c and send it to you as I can't recall that we ever had the situation arise where they actually came into use.
What I *should* do is carry the old girl up to you, Lavoy, and have her completely rebuilt to as-new. That way, every odd part that's usually trashed but isn't on this one, you can use for a template!
Later!

I read on a site about a foundry here in Pennsylvania run by the Amish that would cast parts for old equipment , I will see if I can find their name and send you the information . Dan
