440 battery sheetmetal is done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by Lavoy » Thu Feb 12, 2009 3:21 pm

Finally after the third try, I have the 440 gas battery sheetmetal done. I know I owe a few of you out there a correct RH side to replace the wrong one I had already sent you. Give me a call or e-mail when you have a chance, and I will get the corrected one on the way. Sorry for the delay and the screw up to start with. I don't like sending out incorrect parts, but in this case, I could only have the pattern for a few days, and then it had to be returned. I finally was able to borrow an NOS door for a long enough period of time that I could have all of the errors in the original drawing corrected.
Thanks for your patience.

Lavoy,

Are these battery boxes for the ICD version or just the gassers? If they do fit the diesel what would be the total sent to my address in Kentucky?

Thanks!

Brad,
No, gasser only. I have located an original diesel battery box and lid that I can borrow for a pattern, so they are on the to-do list.

I would imagine that by the time I actually have my crawler back together you'll have the battery boxes done!

Keep me posted on their availability.

Also, received your package yesterday. Much appreciated.

Brad,
I don't have the pattern here yet, I just know that I have one I can borrow. As soon as I get something done, I will let you know. This is another one of the parts I have wanted to do for years, but have never been able to find a pattern. I don't know where some of these parts disappear to over the years, must be something like lost socks, or the way my shop eats tools.

440 Diesel Battery Box Lid

Post by Farmboy » Wed Apr 01, 2009 10:13 am

Lavoy,
I have a buddie who just acquired a sweet 1962 440 diesel.
Runs well.
Anyway, he needs a battery box cover and I told him I will check with you.
Any idea when he could get one?
Thanks.
Bill

Randy,
No, the way the town is shut down with the flood, nothing much is moving here. We just had another blizzard yesterday, so that added to it. Many non-essential businesses have been shut down. I will give him a call and see if they are back open and see what the status is.

Bill,
The pattern is in for drawing, but I doubt anything has been done on it yet. I talked to him just before the flood mess started, and we went through some idea on how to do it.
I think there are 3 different battery boxes for the diesel, so the lid I have for a pattern may not fit, but then again it might.

Thanks Lavoy,
I hope all is going well as can be expected for you all. Just remember that all things come to pass, except taxes that is.
