440 ICD for sale

Post by cuznguido » Sat Apr 24, 2010 11:14 am

I bought this thing several months ago from the previous owner who claimed the engine would not run. The engine runs fine now, 2-53 Detroit. The real problem with it is the transmission. The gears are not torn up or anything, but the input shaft is stuck or bound somehow and will not turn. It does not have a reverser. I have pulled it around with my tractor and the steering clutches/brakes seem to work just fine. The tracks and undercarraige are good and have lots of life left in them. It needs some odds and ends welding and fixing here and there of course but overall it is not bad at all--otherwise I would not have bought it. With the trans fixed it would usable just like it is. The engine runs good and the radiator etc hold water and no leaks. The blade is a manual angle but works okay. My health is such that I have not been able to get to fixing this tractor and i do not see improvement on the horizon. I will take $1500 for it and you come get it. I can help load it. The price is firm and I cannot post pics--too stupid and too old to care. My description is as accurate as i can make it. I was a diesel mech for many years but never worked on these little deeres so I know what I am looking at but not real familiar with John Deere specifically. I will guarantee you, that somebody will get a bargain at this price. We will need to communicate throu PM's or email, because I can't hear a telephone. Email cuznguido@gmail.com.

For me your location is the problem, too far from west Texas with $3.00 gasoline (at least) all the way between me and you. Between yours and my 440IC, and 64 blade, I could probably make one good Dozer in addition to the two crawler-loaders I have.
