Selling; Model 8A Gearmatic Winch

Post by dirigoboy » Sat Apr 29, 2006 11:15 am

I've had this winch sitting in my barn for several years now and am opting to sell it. I have never used it since bringing it home. It needs to be gone through and I don't have the knowledge to do the necessary work. It does come with the control arm as well.
Serious inquirires only please, no tire kickers.

Price is $650 firm, you pick up in So. Maine.
Thanks
Alan

Dropping the price to $575. Don't miss out on a nice little winch.

do you still have the winch?
any pics? Has the winch been apart recently? I have a Garrett skidder that uses a 8A, my winch needs the clutch gone over. I have had it apart to fix it, but I need clutch bands(primary and secondary), I need to replace the clutch band retainer, and the brake band/band adjustment screw. If yours is in better shape, I could use mine for parts. I am interested in your winch if available, and if shipping to Oregon won't kill me. Thanks

Hi Karson,
Sent you a PM.

Like I stated in my PM to you, that is a bit of a haul to ship and unsure if it would be cost effective for you. Not sure how shipping something like that would work or how I'd know in advance what to charge for shipping.
I'm all ears if someone on this board has suggestions or has experience in shipping something this heavy that far.

Do you pallet it and FedEx/UPS it? Dunno. What's the process?

a guy would have to get a good estimated shipping weight on the thing, then add 40 lbs for a sturdy pallet. Fed Ex offers LTL freight services, asn does UPS I beleive. It would probably be several hundred dollars as you are on the east coast?
any freight company will give free quotes on freight costs.
my receiving zip would be 97132 as we have a forklift at my shop.

Hello dirigoboy,

Do you still have the 8A winch, and do you know if it will interchange with a 9A? I have a worn out 9A I'm trying to get working but can't find parts or information on older Gearmatic winches. I'm interested in your winch if it will interchange and is in working condition or repairable and parts are available for it.

Thank you,
Floyd Fulton

Floyd,
If you know what parts you need for the 9A, let me know, I have some parts available.

Hello Lavoy,

Good news, will send you pics of the parts I need. Might be a few weeks, the unit is on my place in Ore and I work in LA, Calif.

8A Winch

Lavoy, I going to take the winch off the 440. It is missing the right end plate that covers the brake shoes and what ever controls them.

Keep it in mind if some one is looking for parts.

Magoo from South Georgia.
