440 Trans

Post by scampr » Sat Mar 02, 2013 1:48 pm

440ICD trans help,2nd gear finally started into it thinking it was bearings. With closer look and thinking i probably should be thinking about replacing the 2nd gears too. OUCH.... anyone know if by a long shot they can be had still or just start searching for used ones? Thanks btw # is 453316 which i believe would be the earlier version of the trans.

All diesel use the late transmission, 1010 is a no go, completely different. I have some used 5 speed parts.

Just a word of caution, be careful changing the individual gears. I cracked one of mine pressing it back on.

Lavoy i was looking and it looks the same for the 4 and 5 sps ,looking for the second sliding gear and could get by without the mate but a good pair would be the smart thing So mainly if you have the 2nd slider.. let me know... thanks

I checked, I don't have the trans here, sorry, it is at the farm under a few feet of snow. If you strike out, it looks like our snow will be down quite a bit in a couple weeks or so.
