Frames are done, problem I ran into was bearings, nothing that directly worked, or could be had economically. Friend has one at a shop now, they are trying to make them out of bronze like original, we'll see how they come out.

I'm wondering if one of these could be made to fit my Gearmatic 8a. Just haven't pursued it yet.

8A would shred that in the first pull. Multiply that by 40 and you have about the same amount of steel in a factory fairlead. Plus there is not adequate depth or width. Factory fairlead has about 8" or so horizontally, and at least a foot vertically.

I am going to make a fairlead similar to the photo below my user name. And as always, overdoing everything I build to make it durable. But my question is, does anyone out there actually have this 150 numbered fairlead/log arch setup? I would love to see some photos.

Here's one on a 1010.

I'd suggest that you make yours easy to remove so you can get into the guts of the winch if need be. The JD designed integral arches are a very heavy unit. It mounts close to the winch sides and need to be well attached to the machine because of the expected loads and leverages.
Just my thoughts. I had them on my 350 and 450 machines when I played in the woods in years past, and I liked them until I needed to do a winch repair.
