420 shifter

Post by d.racicot » Wed Aug 02, 2006 8:38 am

I have 420 crawler #118518 and am in need of a shifter lever and gated tower for a 5 speed trans. I would consider complete trans cover with shifter, tower, forks, etc. if price is right.

420C Shifting Lever

I have one that I need to use to replace the one I broke off earlier this summer (it had been bronzed before). Any trick as to taking off the cover; getting the old one out; and putting the new one in??

Larry,
There is a snap ring that you need to take out first, then the "bearing" which is not really a bearing, but that is what they call it. Probably the easisest way to do that is just lift up on the shifter and wiggle. Be sure to check the little rivet that is in the front of the shifter tower and see that it is not loose.
