Hi, I am a new member to the board and have not got familar with it yet. I don't have a crawler, but like all the Dubuques, mainly the 420 and 430 wheel tractors. I go By Tennessee Wayne, but now live in Red Bay, Al.

Wayne,
I would guess you are the same TN Wayne I have been talking to over the years on Rummy's? You really need to get a crawler you know.
Welcome to the board.

Yep, its me. Just been out of the hobby about 5 years due to unseen circumstances.
Yes, I have always wanted a crawler, but just thought they would be too hard to work on. I have recently bought a 40w and a 420w. I have started the restoration on the 40w and using the 420 around the old home place.
When I sell the 40w I may get you to send me a crawler.

Once you get a crawler, you will get rid of all those silly wheel tractors.

crawlers

Post by Tennessee Wayne » Sun Feb 05, 2012 6:20 pm

Thanks guys. I am serious about getting a crawler, but would need advice when I get ready. I don't really know much about them and the values. It seems according to condition, they are about the same price as the tractors.

That is probably about right on price, but if you buy one that needs a lot of work, substantially more expensive to fix than a tractor. You will also often find they have lived a much harder life than a wheel tractor.

Dubuque Crawlers

One thing I have often wondered about, is on those Dubuque Crawlers, can the blade be angled side to side or up and down on each side?

Depends on the model of blade. Some are fixed, some angle only, some angle and tilt.

Tennesse Wayne,

Welcome to the best crawler board on the Internet.
We have a great time one here, make new friends, and learn more than anyone could expect.

The only requirement to complete your application to be a member on this board is to mail $200 cash to me......................................
(Do not tell Lavoy, he always lets the good people on for free)

It is a good idea to not buy a "paint job", especially on a crawler. The exception is if the owner has owned it, knows it, and can show where they have restored it or replaced parts.
Many sellers with the fresh paint jobs are simply moving them through to turn a buck. You can end up turning a lot more bucks than you expect.
Have fun and feel free to ask anything about JD crawlers as somerone on here can likely provide a good answer.

Could be, but no imagine that same damage on a crawler!
