Help on d 4 cat
Help on d 4 cat
I realize this may not be the proper place to ask these questions, but maybe someone can help or tell me politely where to go. I have a 1947 d4 cat with a d315 cat engine that I am getting fuel into the oil. where is the most likely place for that to happen? transferr pump ? injector pump seals?? Any help would be greatly appreciative.

It's been a long long time, but we had a D4 7U on the ranch that over the years had this issue a couple of times. One time it was the transfer pump....another time I had to pull the injection pump off and replace what I remember was a seal on the drive shaft. I don't have my books at this location or I would look in my parts book.
Hope this helps some.

I too have a 1947 D7, it's serial # is 18 indicating it's the 18th 7U off the line.

Hi,
Back in 1966, before he became the machinist in his brother's dealership, Dad was about to buy a D2. But, just before he did, the 420c was traded in. The rest is history, still sitting in my shed. Just used it day before yesterday.

I was looking for a 2 cylinder JD crawler when I bought the D4. For what they want for a JD in these parts as Lavoy can attest starts at 4G and goes up depending on condition. In fact crawlers in general are pretty spendy here. I gave 2380 for a running operating D4 with about 70% on the undercarriage and the ploy runs too. Couldn't walk away from that. Still would like to have one similar to the MC. That's the first crawler I ever got to run back in the spring of 72.Stan Disbrow wrote:Hi,

It is for sale now, we are just not going to get it done, and too many others to work on. There are 3 MC's sitting there now, 2 will be enough. Shoot me an e-mail, I think I have a pic somewhere.
