Cutting Edge did you go back to Bath to watch the USS Zumwalt leave?
Old tin-can sailor. USS Southerland DDR-743, she came out of Bath mid to late 1944 and was the first DD to drop anchor in Tokio Bay in 1945. I rode her 1960-1963.

I never did any of the times it left. Quite a weapon though. Proud to say I worked on all three of them, but the first Zumwalt the most by far. Even got to weld Frame One...the bow section for a few months.
I have no intention of traveling to my grave in a well manicured body; instead I am going to slide into heaven with a big power turn, totally wore out with busted knuckles, jump off my dozer loudly yelling, Woo Hoo, another Shepard has just arrived!
