Maybe i need to go down to TEXAS for a couple weeks Amos been having some warm weather down there a bit!! getting a bit tired of the wet and sloppy. well soon enough it will get to be 90 and hot. just gotta gripe a bit and bear it!! My machines have the patience!!
Re: spring? here?
Fruit trees bloomin, already planted the garden: maters, peppers, collards, egg plant, radish, snap peas just coming up as is okra. Squash may have been planted a few weeks early as nothing happinin yet. Creme peas will be about 3 weeks from now as soil temp needs to stay above 60.dtoots1 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 04, 2018 7:24 amWell it was like 70 degrees here yesterday.....of course today is a different day and out to feed the dog and tis 37 degrees with just a bit of snow coming down....everything is soaking wet as we had thunder and lightning most of the evening...got a lake in back yard again. No fear of frost at all now.
I finally did measure the factory garden spot: 30' wide x 80' long. Extension I'm working to improve soil on is same size. Will be one big enough to hook up and use my covington planter soon.year or two.
Got just enough rain yesterday to water the garden. More rain coming Thursday through Saturday.
Now when it's August and 105 with 70% humidity here I'll be the one crying.

Record low of 18 set in 1899 was broke in Western Iowa with a new low of 12 this AM 4/4/2018. It will be 4 more weeks before we have a frost free risk. Bruce
Re: spring? here?
Almost forgot: got a good deal on another disc last sunday.Land pride 5' heavy built(600 poundsih) with adjustable gangs. Bearings good,no welds or bends, discs good with plenty of life left in them. $400.00 and only a 120 mile round trip(In Texas that's called "local"). Sells for $1950.00 new. Hooked it up and disced some in garden spot and it's sweet!

Hello Amos,
That is a really good deal on the disc. I have several Landpride implements. They are very good pieces in my opinion.

Re: spring? here?
Snowed here this am, but a nice crop of frost heaves are growing in the roadways so mud season is here. Realized this morning we are starting into month 6 of stoking the woodstove. It's a strange feeling every May not to have to stoke the stove every morning. Ah, northern New England.
Re: spring? here?
Single digits at night here for the rest of the week, most days below freezing, or just barely above. Above average snow for March, poor snow the rest of the Winter, figures. Frost still down 2-3' from what I hear, going to be a late Spring, 60 degrees at least two weeks out as of now.

Re: spring? here?
dime it all....been snowing all day....none staying on ground tho, but that dang wind is really cold....blows right thru ya.....where dat global warming when ya want it????
Re: spring? here?
Our winter was very strange this year. Normally we get a thaw in late Jan but it usually stays pretty cold and on average we have 2-3' of snow on the ground most winters. This year we had about 2 weeks in early Jan where it stayed well below zero. Diesels were gelling left and right, it was awful. Then it warmed right up and we had spring like weather for the rest of Jan and all of Feb with no snow. I felt bad for the sledders. March was pretty snowy, but that's pretty common here. Still have a foot in the yard.

Hi,
It was 75 and sunny here in NC yesterday so we went to the beach. Shelling wasn't so good but still a good day overall. This morning it is 35 and rainy. Sounds like Spring to me.
