Case 580C
Case 580C
The machine has a combination of pins that grease and bushing with zerts. However it has 4 pins that have no way to grease them. No hole thru the pins, no bushing zerts nothing. Is this normal or has someone switched the pins out? They look factory but I can't imagine having a non grease joint.

Re: Case 580C
It does seem odd. Knowing the location/which pins might help.
Re: Case 580C
Both lower pins on the front bucket and 2 of the pins that connect the rear digging bucket.

Re: Case 580C
That is what is shown in the on line parts books. My thoughts are they figured the wear on those particular ones would be more if there was grease to hold grit in the joints then if they were left dry.
If you don't have this here's a link to the on line Case Construction Equipment parts book for the 580C.

Re: Case 580C
I think you are right. I think there is supposed to be oil bronze bushings in there and they have just dried up. I'll change the bushing and see how it goes.
Good eye, and thank you for the help.
